I know I skipped October, but I ended up not really going shopping during that month, and I felt it would just be easier to include the one thing I bought in the month of November’s Shopping Budget.
I ended up finding TWO of my closet staples this month, and I’m so excited that I did. They’re really opened up my outfit planning in new ways, and both were great buys (and on sale!)
I’m also thrilled because I finally made my way to Ikea and bought a full length white mirror. This means I’ll finally be able to get a better feel for how I look in the morning before I head out, and I’ll be able to start sharing OOTD (outfits of the day) with you guys.
First up is the one item I bought in October, and one of my two staple items that I found!
This is my second pair of these pants – I also have them in a khaki color, and I absolutely love the fabric on them. They’re not too heavy and softer than some of the other slacks I own. I always get the Kate cut – which is the “curvy” fit, mainly because I feel like I can move around better in that cut.
I got this pair of pants mega on sale and ended up spending $24.48
I was then able to hit up Nike Factory over a weekend, and got two great work out tanks. Since they’re from Nike Factory, I couldn’t link the exact version for you guys, but I was able to find some pretty similar ones online.
I was super excited to find both of these tops, because I loved the colors of both of them, and they fit my requirements for a work-out top. The biggest thing for me with any kind of work out top is the neckline. Since I’m fuller up top, sports bras have a tendency to enhance that problem. I don’t want to spend more time pulling up my shirt than working out, so I tend to lean towards getting tops with a high neckline.
I had a $10 off Nike coupon – which can be found at the bottom of your receipt if you take an online, super easy survey! I spent $31.49 to get both of these tops
It’s getting cold in DC, and while I have a difficult time wearing long pants and long sleeves to bed (I feel like I’m going to get strangled, lol), I really wanted a pair of nice long pajamas to lounge around in. I already had the short pair from last Christmas, and knew that I loved the fabric, so when I saw that Victoria’s Secret had a long pair I just had to get them.
I spent $48.50 on the pajamas, and bought a pair of underwear to tip me over into the “free” shipping amount for a total of $56.57
The last shopping adventure I went on this month was to J.Crew. This is where I got my second staple item for my closet. I bought this great, snuggly sweater and a classic black work dress.
I had been watching this sweater on J.Crew for weeks, and it finally ended up coming on sale! I absolutely love this Heather Orchid color, and it is so soft and comfy. Every time I’ve worn it, I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it. I just need to find some black riding boots and my outfit will be complete!
This black dress was a pretty big splurge for me, but I’m glad that I did it. I did end up sizing down after reading the reviews online. I really like the ruffle down the side, because I feel like its fun without over powering the “classic” look I was hoping for. And I feel like the neckline looks very flattering on me.
Overall, I spent $43.68 on the sweater and $129.31 on the black dress for a total of $182.94
$606.56 – $24.48 – $31.49 – $56.57 – $182.94 = $311.08 left over to spend in December!
I hope you enjoyed this little look into my November (and October) shopping budget as I try to fill in some of the missing staple items in my closet! Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment below.
