I think so often in life we get caught up with the ideals of society and trying to fit in. I know I spent a great deal of my youth trying to make myself smaller, since I always had a personality that was just a little too big for everyone around me.
It wasn’t until I got to college and realized what I wanted to do with my life that I figured out those things that make me stand out, the things I had tried to hide, were what made me special. They were things to be celebrated. And that’s when I started

Even now that I’m almost finished with PA school, I’m constantly learning the importance of being unique and embracing my differences. The path to medicine is anything but a straight forward one, there are bumps and divots and all sorts of crazy challenges. That’s why its so important for us as future providers to stay true to ourselves.
